Tullio took over the map-reading duties at this point, and proceeded to lead us on a merry dance around his old stamping ground at Fewston, Swinsty Reservoir and Otley. I’ve never been over that way before and it was very nice indeed. Lots of climbing though, only 600 feet less than the week before around the Howardians and Cockayne Loop, albeit I did climb back up a long hill this week to seek out a puncture victim. Young Dan amused us on a big descent when he wisely hit the ejector button and exited down a private driveway to avoid a nasty turn, we thought he’d pre-arranged lunch with the locals! We stumbled on a great cafe (Cock Pit Farm Tea Rooms) a couple of miles outside of Otley, a nice bonus. I was very impressed with everyone on the ride, all contributing and helping each other out, some probably did better than they expected – hope it builds some confidence. No cramps for me – hooray! – I overdosed on potassium-laden fruit & veg. I now have some quiet tips from some of the racing guys as well so will continue my anti-cramp quest this week. MVP award this week goes to Tullio, very nimble around the front of the pack all day and lookin’ very strong at the mo.
Felt a bit sorry for the Sunday Clubbers today in the damp, hope they had some fun.

Felt fairly strong all day despite the early brisk pace. Nice cafe stop just outside Otley as well. And despite been the p******e victim Darren mentions really enjoyed the day. At least the sunshine was out when changing the tube. However you never feel entirely at ease after a flat with only about half the tyre pressure constantly hoping you don't have another.
