Three Bridges was my first Clifton ride for ages. I've missed you all! It was really good to catch up with Darren, Bernard, Ginnie, Dave et al.

Knee problems and my son Ben getting rather good at the 1500m have kept me off the bike most weekends. He didn't have a race this weekend so I got to ...

Stolen Bike

Ben has had his bike stolen! He was so excited about his ride out with the Clifton last weekend, that I have barely been able to keep him off it!!

He rode into town today and locked it up by the river only to return and find it gone. He is gutted. If I catch the bas***ds I will cut their b***s off ...

I finally got back on my bike after the C2C and huffed and puffed my way around the K-ride!

It was great to be back out and riding with a group again. This time I brought my 13 year old son, Ben along and I am very grateful to all on the ride for making him feel so welcome.

He has never ridden in ...

Sunday the 19th was the date I had set for riding the C2C in a day.

Naturally I developed a horrendous cold which went to my chest on the preceding Tuesday! I know there is nothing scientifically proven to help, but I took the science hat off and went out and bought anything that had been rumoured ...

C2C with my 13-year-old son for me this weekend. I used it as a recce for the day-ride in 3 weeks time.

We were so lucky with the weather, the forecast was awful but we seemed to time our cafe stops perfectly and missed the bulk of the downpours - including the hailstones on the top of Hartside ...

K-ride for me as well. A glorious day with the group around the Bransdale loop. This was the first time I had done anti-clockwise. I am not sure which is harder? Clockwise is a long-drag which tires the legs for the couple of short sharp shocks to come after Cockayne. Anti-clockwise is a couple of ...

Dales Cycleway

This is a lovely route. I did it last year over 2 days and it was pretty tough, with lots of climbing.

I am busy yet again this weekend so can't make the club rides, but as part of my C2C training, I have decided to do a slightly shorter version of the route starting and finishing in Burnsall this ...

I couldn't make the club rides this Saturday, but I went out with a work colleague.

We headed out via Tockwith and across the Cattal bridge (it says the road is closed, but bikes can get through), Aldwark bridge, Alne, Easingwold, Coxwold, Oldstead, White Horse bank, Hawnby and lunch in Helmsley ...

A couple of people expressed interest in this, so I apologise for bumping it back up.

If you aren't familiar with the route, have a look at these websites. There will need to be one or two route changes for road bikes, but not many.

K group for me this weekend. It really is a pleasure to ride out with such a great bunch.
We had a few of Willy's easy rider graduates along and they did a sterling job - despite the rucksacks!!

Out to Malton via a distinctly lumpy route, with a couple of pretty steep pitches around Dalby which ...

Hope you all had a good ride.

Sorry I couldn't make it, I was at Twickenham yesterday watching Italy capitulate.

Didn't get back until late, a tad worse for wear.

Punished myself with an hour on the turbo when I eventually rose from my pit. I am sure your ride would have been a lot more fun and I ...

I will tag along as well if that is okay.

What is the terrain like? At the moment I have "intermediates" on my MTB, will I need "full knobblies"?

How baggy do my shorts have to be?

Should I grow a beard?

Any other things I should bring / do to prepare myself?

Weekend Roundup

Decided that I couldn't put it off any longer and so ignoring the frost I pitched up at the square for my first ride of 2011. It was actually my first ride since November, so I was anticipating some major ssufferring!

A steady stream arrived at the square and eventually we were joined by Kevin in a ...

Coast to Coast (C2C) in a day!

Dear All

Having done the baggy short version of this over three days on a number of occasions, following a number of routes, I have long harboured the urge to give it a go in a single day!

I am therefore planning to do this ride on Sunday 19th June. It is a truly wonderful ride through lovely ...

Jon,

Sorry to hear you had an "incident".

I am now speaking with my professional hat on! What you describe is a condition known as "Post-Traumatic Amnesia" or PTA.

It follows a head injury and is a useful marker of the severity of the head injury.

This is where it gets a bit complicated! Memory ...
