Dear all,
I'd love to get out and about on my bike this year; I've been living in York a year now having moved up here alone for my job and am yet to get involved in any such activity!
It's been years since I used to ride regularly (though I'm only 22!). Whats the best way I can get into joining you all? Are there any less strenuous rides I could get back into it with and also allow me to meet some of you?
I guess there are no age restrictions, but I'd like to join a friendly group for a few shorter rides until I can find my feet and regain my fitness a little.
If anyone could give me some advice on what / where I need to be and on what a typical ride would entail that would be really lovely.
Im based in central York and am free pretty much every evening and weekend so as you can imagine, I just can't wait to start!
with best wishes,
Joe.
I'd like to join in!

Joe,
Belated welcome to York.
You don't state your current cycling ability, discipline or aspirations but I'm sure we can help. Assuming you're after road cycling, take a look at our section on Getting Started http://www.cliftoncc.org/static.php?con ... ng_started which will give you a guide on what sort of level you'd need to be comfortable on our rides. We normally point newcomers to Exhibition Square, 10am on Saturday. Here you can join our Social Ride, or there's often a training ride which is a bit harder but <3 hours. Why not come along Saturday and have a chat with Kevin? Look for the Clifton Jerseys to the left as there's usually quite a crowd.

Hi Joe
Just to back up what Paul's said - do the Saturday social ride with Kevin's group. It may seem like a fair distance if you're still getting back into riding, but it's in good company and it'll fly by. The social ride sets off from the left-hand side (if you're facing the front of the gallery) so head into the group there, let someone in a Clifton jersey know who you are and which ride you're after, and you'll be looked after. There are various other faster training rides which set off at the same time - not all of them Clifton-organised - and you probably don't want to be doing four hours of attacking hills (yet!)...
Enjoy, and will see you out there sometime!
