Weekend Roundup 16th/17th

Post by Rob »

Lots of rides going on, but for me it was the Yorkshire Alps, as trailed elsewhere.
Six in the Square, became 7 when Rob joined us, then back to 6 when Jonny's Di2 malfunctioned 10 miles north of Richmond - a long ride home on 2 gears. :|

The rest of us then tackled the high roads, testing winds and agricultural road surfaces across some seriously wild terrain. Cool on the tops, humid in the valleys.

At Grassington, Rob decided he's head for Huddersfield instead of York (I kid you not) which left Steen, Ben, Chris, AndyG and self to tackle the tailwind run in home. My Central Nerous System had switched to "body management mode" way back on Buttertubs. In this setting, the CNS prioritises the pushing of pedals and steering, and sequentially shuts down all non-critical functions - like the ability to hold interesting conversation, or the holding of one's facial features in a socially acceptable pose. Next on the list for shut-down were bowel and bladder control, so I was glad to see the outskirts of York swim into view at about 7-30pm....

Another great day out though with some strong and consistent riding from the team. 260k, 3500m, lots of stories. Thanks chaps.

Simple ride to the sea-side next week I think.

11 set off on the A ride on Saturday including myself their was graham, James , Stu, dr Dave, Ian h, Ian w , Pete, Ian r, Kevin and Tony who departed at Harrogate.

Destination was changed to ilkley, which in hindsight was the right choice with a strengthening westerly throughout the day

Out via bland hill and fewston and askwith and back through Kirkby overblow wetherby and askham Bryan

Nice stop in the sun at ilkley with the usual good banter amongst the group and some strong riding by everybody

Well done to those completing the Yorkshire Alps but I'll think twice before ordering a di2 group set

Never good to hear about malfunctioning kit bevause I know joe as had issues with is mainly though because he forgets to charge it

I'm sure there usually pretty reliable

Hope to be out Saturday maybe we could try langdale end again
