SPOCO TT 9th June Farlington circuit (new one)

Post by DavidShort »

Just a reminder that whilst we have an organiser and timekeeper, ( many thanks Matt & Bernard), we have no volunteers for marshals and pusher off. This is a new circuit, staring and finishing at Sheriff Hutton Bridge where the flat 10 starts , ( actual start and finish at the discretion of Bernard). It is a new course and resource intensive for marshals. I have plotted the route as requiring 6 as a safe minimum. Without the required number of marshals the event cannot go ahead. So, please, step forward. Members suggested they wanted new routes. People have taken the time and trouble to plan them so lets not fail at the final hurdle. I'll not be there as I am in the Isle of Man watching scarily fast motorbikes time trialling.

Matt, for your info, all the forms you require including the map of the circuit, the warning signs, direction arrows and marshal points are in the organisers folder. There will be plenty of people with 'organiser' skills present to help out I am sure. The signs are kindly housed Martin WILLAN who lives in Sheriff. Please make sure a dynamic risk assessment is completed on the night. I have to submit these to regional RTTC. Finally, the discretion as to whether the event can safely go ahead will rest with the 'organiser' who will be fully supported in his/her decision by the TT sec' & club committee.

Have a great event.

kind regards David

Thanks for the info David, I took the organisers kit away with me last week, but it would be handy if somebody can advise where Martin lives so I can return it after the event on the night.

There are still only 2 volunteers on the sheet, so we need another 4 for this event to go ahead safely.

Weather forecast is good, 19°C and dry, we just need some more marshalls!!!

I've had a discussion with Dave Cook re number of marshals required for the Farlington circuit. I bow to Dave's experience in TT's and we agree that whilst it would be ideal to have 6 marshals if we get 5 then we could run with that. I had put one in Farlington as it is a pinch point with the road narrowing to a bridge, on a bend , adjacent to a junction and at the bottom of a long descent to boot. If we can't get one for this point then so be it but PLEASE take care at this point. Once again big thanks to Dave for his advice. Much appreciated.

kind regards David

I am short of Cycle Event signs for the road races Sunday (the ones that warn oncoming traffic). I need 10 more. Does anyone know if we have anymore within the Club?

Hi Cam,

We've got a reasonable stack of warning signs that are used at the Thursday time trials, I'm not sure exactly how many as they are out at the minute (Matt, if you see this could you do a quick count please?), but I should have them by Thursday which is handy as I'm down to help out and live in Sheriff Hutton :) ...I'll drop you a PM.

cheers,
Martin

I've got 8 cycle event signs, 4 left turns and 4 straight on, plus a red flag and a straight on and a cycle event without poles.
