Clifton Road Race day on Sunday 12 June

Please stick this date in your diary if you haven't already. It'll be a good 'un As in previous years we are putting on 2 events on the same day. They are both open road races of just over 50 miles in length

10.00 League of Veteran Racing Cyclists Event http://www.lvrc.org.uk
13.30 British Cycling Event for 2nd/3rd/4th Cats/Juniors/Women https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/event ... -Road-Race

They will both run on the Sheriff Hutton/Stillington circuit and the HQ will be the Village Hall at Sheriff Hutton.

In short.....We need your help
LVRC race....We need:
4 drivers (Anyone who has done this will tell you it's great fun!)
5 marshals minimum (You won't be on your own but will be supporting a crew of professional people who do this sort of thing week in week out)
Help with signing on and on the finish line

I know we have one confirmed driver (cheers Nick!) who stuck his hand up nice and early which is brilliant....so we need 3 more

BC race....we need:
4 drivers again (You need to be a BC member to drive in this race.....You get a CB radio to play with for the afternoon...exciting or what!)
5 marshals minimum (As above....You won't be on your own but will be supporting a crew of professional people who do this sort of thing week in week out)
Help with signing on and on finish line

For drivers for both races we will give you money to cover your petrol costs.


For both races we need some one to to deal with catering and ideally an extra hands to support this person.

Several people have already said to me that they can help out in some capacity....If those people could post something here to let me know what they could do?

As anyone who has seen me without my helmet on I really can't afford to lose anymore hair....so... the sooner you start posting your offers of help and support the better Entries are coming in fairly steadily already

I drove BroomWagon for L.V.R.C. event last year and marshaled at the B.C. one in the afternoon. Can do similar this year, if required.

Looks like I'll be on holiday as it's the only week that fits in with work and the arrival of the new baby.

Just bumping this up again. 6-7 weeks to go and lots of opportunities to volunteer (see gaps below). Please post here if you can help. Entries are coming in steadily now. One or two people have told me that they can help when I've been out on the training ride but if you could post something here it helps. There are loads of reasons why you should consider supporting this. For example...it represents the grass roots of the sport. We have lots of juniors in this club. Your son or daughter may be wanting to ride events like this in the future. These events just fall away and don't happen unless people like you come forward and help. Oh....and you'll probably find the whole thing an enjoyable way to spend a few hours on the 12 June

Well....its 6 weeks to go and the number of people we need to help is still in double figures. There will be a lot of old men (for the LVRC) race and young/old men (for the BC race) left very unhappy if we can't get these races on!

All those volunteer slots aren't for "show".... we really need these people as a minimum otherwise there are no races.

It's the Tour of Yorkshire starting today isn't it? I'm sure many Clifton members will be out watching this at some point. If you can do that you could also consider supporting your club on the 12 June perhaps? I'm going to use the 'F' now so beware........ It is actually good fun and you will have the warm glow of satisfaction thereafter knowing that you have put some thing back into the club and the sport

Put me down for driving both races if needed. I originally planned to ride the BC race but would probably get more pleasure from driving and listening to Croatia v Turkey on the radio.
