Thanks everyone who organised this and made it happen. It was my first TT and I was very impressed. Shame I wasn't too impressed with my time...hopefully next week I can do better. Thanks again!!

Yep, well done Jake. You have your first time, now just aim to beat it! The joys of Time Trialing!
Thanks to all those that organised / Marshaled / Helped / Rode last night helps to make this a cracking little series.
One small point... Can we have a few less that require us to climb up Bulmer!!
Cheers
Sharpy

Yes – thank you to all of the volunteers from last night, and welcome to the world of TTs Jake.
I must admit, I am with Sharpy regarding Bulmer. I think it is great to have a mix of flat, rolling and hilly courses, but would prefer to see a more even spread across the three types. Also, I am a big fan of repeating courses fairly often so there is more opportunity to see your progress from one week to the next. What would people think to having just three courses – the flat 10, Whenby-Brandsby and one of the hillys and doing each one four times over the summer?

This is something I would be in favour of. A few years ago when the flat 10 was more often the regular numbers were considerably higher - the longer hillier routes are less popular (and I also feel that Bulmer is potentially hazardous with gravel at the bottom on occasions).

Agree with everything above. I have campaigned for restoring more flat 10's for a couple of years which used to be alternated with the others(less Bulmer) to no avail up to now. A few opponents have said that the flat has dangers, left turn onto Strensall road, finishing straight and even more marshals needed. I find Bulmer bank to be potentially dangerous and Terrington bank at over 50 mph may be a bit daunting for newcomers. We need to encourage the up and coming riders as much as possible (also other clubs).
Cheers
Dave

There is a trend developing here and certainly something worthy of wider discussion. In year 1 as TT sec I'm very much on a learning curve re the running of the series, circuits etc. Thanks to everyone's help & encouragement I am feeling comfortable in the role.
There is no reason why we shouldn't try new courses. Certainly the first flat 10 of the season was well subscribed and the numbers drop off with the other hilly circuits. I think we need to develop courses which attract competitors rather than put them off because its in the 'too difficult' category. I'm also conscious the series is male dominated and we need to encourage female members.
Let's give the subject some thought/debate, run with the rest of the series as it is and come up with some ideas for next season. I'm still keen to run a 'easy come and try it' event with prizes on the night for different, even whacky categories.
We have a cracking series with a fantastic social spirit. Time to lift it up a level!
Kind regards David
