Castle Howard Resurfacing

Post by Tony »

Just a heads-up...

Coming back from Hovingham yesterday afternoon, I encountered road closures through Castle Howard, with detours setup at the Coneysthorpe junction.

Signage didn't indicate how long the road would be closed, but the trucks were laying down a thick bed of crushed stone gravel.

The workers allowed me to continue through the park (leaving at the southern monument), but it wasn't pleasant and maintaining balance was difficult due to the stones.

Thanks Tony, I too rode through there the other day & I'm keeping my eye on things for next weeks SPOCO which will use that stretch of road between Bulmer Lane end & Coneysthorpe cross roads. Hopefully it will have bedded ina bit by then.

Kind regards David

I went past the section this morning - it would start at the crossroads after Bulmer. Not sure how far it goes as we turned right back towards the A64. They have also put the stuff down Terrington bank too - not for far - just the steep bit! Bob

It should be fine for the TT as they have to sweep it after a couple of days ones traffic has forced the stones into the tar. I think it definitely worth keeping an eye on it though... They may well decide to do some other sections.
