Time Trial bikes on the chaingang

Post by Cyan Skymoos »

Good VC chaingang last night, some good lads out, The Team Node pro James(?) Kit, Chris, the cycleworks lads etc. Nice smooth line-out. Then 5 miles from the end someone joins in on a TT bike and gets down on those silly bars. Obviously you're going to go 2mph faster than everyone else, so the ride went from very smooth to fragmented.

I've seen one or two people out on TT bikes now, I'm not keen on it, I don't think it's safe in a bunch, and I hope it doesn't catch on.

James Sampson who rides for Node 4 Daz.
I'm not sure TT bars are great idea in a group considering the state of Elvington Rd to Grimston Bar.

I don't really see how a TT bike is unsafe if riding in a bunch if you stick to the normal bars, I find it is easier to brake anyway. As for changing gear on the end of bars, it's no more risky than taking your hand off to have a drink from your bottle. Clearly, someone on the tribars in a group is dangerous.

If people are not happy about TT bikes in the line out I'll mention it discreetly to the two people who in the past have used them.
