Yes....big thanks to Phil for organising the whole day...a job well done! Thanks to everyone else who helped. Special mention to whoever baked/provided the cakes! They were delicious and nearly made up for my disappointment at puncturing at end of Lap 4 of the LVRC race. Unfortunately, this was fate that befell a lot of riders on the day including our own Andy C and Richard D (who still managed to achieve a placing in the As race!). The deluge early in the Vets race must have washed a fair amount of flints onto the road. Good hard course with a "tricky" climb (that's probably understating it!). Made a bit of hash on the climb first time round when I stuck it in the small ring and found that I was just spinning some what ineffectively and missed a break. Thereafter kept in the large ring and was much better. By end of lap 4, race had come together again with about 14 As and Bs in a bunch including me. Very disappointed with puncture but consoled myself with cake and the thought that I felt good up to that point and was still in contention...
A good day out....cheers Phil

Thanks for all your hard work Phil. Both races and the catering seemed to run very smoothly, especially once it was realised the electricity supply was metered.
In the morning race Cam was particularly unlucky having got in a very good position with only 2 to go, before a puncture. Mine held until the bottom of the last climb, but fortunately the tyre stayed on the rim, and the attrition rate was so high by then I limped across the line before it mattered.

Glad everyone feels it went well - certainly got positive feedback from riders. Well done to all the Clifton riders - especially Richard for getting 3rd in the A's despite a flat rear tyre, Cam for a really strong ride until he punctured out of it, Tom and Dave for ploughing resolutely round on what's a hard circuit to ride alone.
And a major round of thanks to all who made it happen:- the marshals who put up with some fairly dramatic weather, the drivers of the convoy cars for both races (a pretty scary responsibility), Dave I for the excellent new lap board, the behind-the-scenes cake-makers, York Cycleworks for putting up prizes and money for refreshments, and last but very definitely far from least to Cath M and Richard's partner Lisa Gillie for running the catering operation (and fending off irate farmers, doing the BC race signing-in, mopping up flooded toilets, unravelling the idiosyncrasies of the electric slot meter, and sticking around at the end to clear up).
In equal measure to those familiar faces who always turn out to make these events a success and to those relative newcomers to the club who jumped in and got involved - many, many thanks.

Cheers for an excellent race on Sunday Phil. The circuit was nice and hard and the organisation was excellent, which allowed the racing to take place without worrying about junctions etc.
A good high quality field for the 2/3/4 race too which shows the popularity for the Clifton RR.
