Survey: Long(er) Zip Club Jerseys

Post by G. »

If you're like me, you like your jerseys with long, preferably full zips on them*, so I'm a bit loath to buy a club jersey with only a 1/4 zip on it. I was in Cycle Heaven today and talked to them about this. They say that their minimum order size is 10, so though their next restocking is miles off, if 10 of us want ss jerseys with a longer zip, they can get them in time for the lovely hot weather that's just around the corner!

So, is anybody interested in a full zip jersey? Is anybody at least interested in a jersey with a 2/3, 3/4 or whatever length zip? Post here and I'll report back to the shop. Any takers?

*Stopping for a toilet and emptying my pockets before unstrapping my bibs annoys me and being a randonneur type, I can do it a good few times on a ride. I'm sure you've got your own reasons.

I assume you mean the summer short sleeve jerseys? The long sleeve ones have full length zips. I must admit one of the reasons I don't use my short sleeve Clifton top a great deal is due to this.

Most sumer jerseys that I have seen/owned have zips that dont go all the way (fnarr fnarr!) but a few do. Does 'our' clothng manufacturer make full-zipped short sleeve tops?

They must have done at some point because I have seen a couple of club members with short sleeve tops with full zips however they might have had them made to order and not necessarily had a batch made. You can tell from that remark that i too am a fan of full length zips but it doesnt stop me wearing my short sleeve top but i would prefer it with a full zip.

Ex clothing officer reporting. Yes, Cofides can do S/S jerseys with full zips, but back in the early days when orders were based on what members asked for, the vast majority wanted short zips - CH has just continued ordering stock on this basis as they know it'll sell. Any quantity can be ordered if members specifically ask for items, but Cofides add a surcharge of 50% for less than 5 items and 20% for 5-9 items. Hence things can get a bit pricey, plus CH has the extra faff of making sure sizing is right and purchasers are committed to buying the stuff when it arrives. But it's do-able.

This might be a good time to mention that the Clothing Officer job (ie liaison with CH over stock etc) is up for grabs at the upcoming AGM! Form an orderly queue, please!

Yes Dave, I mean the short sleeve jerseys. Dave and Jon, can I put you both on my little list? That would make three of us.

Santa has ensured that I now have 4 short sleeve jerseys so i'm afraid I'm not really looking for another one at present. When I am though I'd prefer a full - or at least 2/3rd length zip.
