Hello everyone
Im planning my 3rd year Sports Science Dissertation and now trying to recruit some volunteers! hopefully this will not only be interesting for some of you to get involved in but also maybe help with some winter season planning/training. My dissertation is looking at the effect of core fatigue on leg co-ordination during a 10 mile simulated tt. The test will be using king cycle so you can use your own bike and a 3d model of the participant will be made using qualysis (a 3d modeling system that tracks markers on your body).
So the important stuff- it will probably take less that 2 1/2-3 hours of your time over 2 days (with roughly a week apart). Effort wise will be fairly high with you completing 2 self paced 10 mile tt's (although they are self paced it needs to be similar to a race effort) and prior to tt no.2 go through a battery of core fatiguing exercises (again this will be fairly hard).
What im looking at- previous studies have show changes in leg coordination that may be linked with knee pain in cyclists (obviously something we all want to avoid). Despite core work being 'the in thing' for the last few years there doesn't seem to be much specific study with cyclists so it is a fairly open ended study. It may also help the argument that cyclists can benefit from some significant core work strategically through the season.
Last attempt to bait anyone on the fence- You get to use and be filmed by some v.flash kit and help a fellow club member out with there dissertation!
Im really looking for as similar group as possible, i need at least 6-8 people but ideally more (im also asking people from my tri club as i know its a lot!). Ideally to have raced either road, tt, tri or track in the last year (a fair level of fitness is required but its not exclusive to top end cyclists anyone whos interested can get involved), are injury free and can commit upto about 3 hours over 2 days
If anyone is interested please either pm me, post on this thread or email me at oliread@gmail.com.
thanks

I hadn't thought of York Uni thanks for that, Im contacting my tri club as well, if theres anyone you think may be interested please feel free to give them my contact details.
Just wanted to thank the people who have already emailed me. An important piece of info I seem to have missed out is that the testing will probably begin either just before or just after xmas
thanks again
