In case some of you were unaware the Club has Group membership of the YHA which is intended for use for Club trips/weekends.
It's not getting much use at the moment, which is a shame.
Youth Hostels provide reasonably priced accommodation in some stunning locations and are great for groups.
The MTBers have made occasional use of the the Club card but there doesn't seem to be much 'tour' activity going on with the road riders. Why doesn't someone come up with an idea for a weekend trip and get more value out of our membership? I seem to be the default custodian of the card but if anyone has ideas for its use let me know.

Or maybe for an easier ride, there is a hostel in the lincolnshire wolds according to my YHA book, so it could be nice to do a trip to there - some sort of rolling/hilly route down east yorkshire and lincolnshire and a more direct, slightly flatter route if people want an easier ride, but both can go over the humber bridge.
The only time I've ridden over the humber has been on the 3 b's, so I think for quite a few of us it would be somewhere new and different, but without being too hilly or challenging like wales and the peak might be - plus, the roads are far quieter here and in the east (apart from around Hull) than some of them around the peak, so it could be a more pleasant and safe ride...

Hitting Scotland: York to Edinburgh....here's an ace 5***** hostelling plan, which I reconnoitred during September two years ago.
It can be over 1. 2 or 3 days with overnight stops in YHA places near Hadrian's Wall, Berwick on Tweed then on to Edinburgh on day 3.
Each stage offers a quick return by train to York, and offers riding in spectacular countryside, largely empty of cars (and bikes I should say). Unequalled riding.
There was some interest, which fell away, but I'd be quite happy to resussicate the plan.
