I am organising Marshalls for the National Championships in the last weekend in June. You might already be aware of this and have gone running for cover! I am at the moment quite a few Marshalls short of the requirement for running the event so I am looking to see if anybody can help or indeed those who have generously offered to help already can gather any other’s to help out.
The weekend includes the Women’s Championship on the Saturday which starts at 1445 and is expected to finish around 1800. The Elite Men’s Championship on the Sunday starts at 1000 and is expected to finish at around 1500. Food bags will be provided to keep you going! Good weather has been booked too!
The fields for the events are of great depth and quality including Nicole Cooke in the Women’s event and Dave Miller, Mark Cavendish, Roger Hammond, Rob Hayles, Dean and Russ Downing, Ian Stannard, Jonathan Bellis and York riders Jamie Sharp, Ali Kay and Phil Graves.
This is an Olympic selection event as well as the national championships as such the race is expected to be hotly contested not only for the jersey but for a place in Beijing. It’s going to be well worth watching and seeing it all happen.
An offering of appreciation for those who Marshall at the event is a free ride in the Ryedale Rumble sportive event to be held on Sunday 27th July.
If you would let me know if you can help and particularly if you can bring along additional help it would be greatly appreciated. Whether you can help on Saturday or Sunday or both all assistance will be very welcome. It would also help me avoid the nervous breakdown I may otherwise suffer before the end of next week!
