What rides are there?

A place to talk about anything! Want to find someone to ride with? Get help on mending things? Organise lifts?

What rides are there?

Post by CambridgeBloke »

Hi, I am new up to York and planning to try and re-gain my old racing legs. Am planning to join up with the Clifton. I know about the rides that happen at the weekends but can anyone list the other rides that go out? Days, meeting places, times, distances etc. That way I can try to plan some training.

Thanks Andy Horner

Hi Andy

Most of the organised road rides are at the weekend, the exceptions being:-

-There has been a regular Wednesday night training ride during winter months - check the discussion board threads
-The Tuesday night chaingang will start again when the clocks change - I'm sure someone will post a reminder and details on the discussion board.
-Last year we set up a "beginners" chaingang for people new to racing or not confident they'd cope with the full-on pace of the regular one - again I'm sure there will be details on here in the near future (it was also on Tuesdays)
-There's the SPOCO TT series on Thursdays when it kicks off in May

There's also been an informal daytime Tuesday ride going out recently - again check the discussion board.

Hope that's helpful.

There are a couple of chaingangs that go from Lawnswood (North Leeds) towards Otley/Ilkley on weekday evenings I believe - someone on here probably knows the right details of these. You could ask Chevin Cycles (Otley) - they'd know.
