Did you go down millfield lane at about 11:30 and returned to millfield lane at about 3:30 a couple of mountain bikes and maybe 2 road bikes?

No, we departed Ex Sq at 12:05 and left the city via National Cyclepath 65 and headed towards Benningbrough. There was just me and John. I have a very basic open framed bike, and...well I suppose you have seen John's bike.
