The club run consisted of me following Nigel and Rob around,having wisely shown them the route first. Went out past Otley and then turned right at Askwith which was a new road for me and climbed up to Timble. We dropped down to Blubberhouses and climbed back up to Thruscross Reservoir. Nick says the road round has a good climb so will have to go back and do that.
We then headed on to Summerbridge for a cafe stop and back to York via Markington.

Weekend Update
I used the 37mm tyres on my Ridgeback Voyage for the purpose for which they were intended. I cycled with panniers to Whitby Youth Hostel via Hutton Le Hole, Castleton, Danby and Glaisdale. Using the route I had been shown by the club to Hutton Le Hole.
Sunday I cycled home through Dalby Forest to Snainton and then to Yedingham, West Lutton, Langton, Bossall.
I found the ride enjoyable but quite testing. I began to appreciate the relatively flat landscape aroung York. In particular, I had to abandon my bike 3/4s of the way up Limber Hill , where I chose the wrong gear !

And said Willy after a very pleasant half hour amongst normal people sipping coffee and munching some malt loaf on the sunny side of the square took a small, but even more perfectly group of EasyRiders heading south into the wide open wastelands around Cawood and beyond.
Regulars Silke, Alison,Robin and John were having fun elsewhere, so we were Antonia, Billy, Chris and self. Fabulous skies the whole afternoon, and head winds not too fierce, but pleasant enough to blow us all back at speed from Wetherby environs in no time at all.
Distance was a shade over 65 kms. Big achievement (again) for Antonia, who travels in by TransPennine for the ride, and whose distances till now are 8km daily work commutes in Leeds. A heroic 800% improvement!

Stacey & I did the North West Passage ride, from Rochdale up to Lancaster and back. It was a really nice day and I managed to get 140 miles in, by taking one wrong turn.
The climbs near the end made it interesting, although when we did it in 2007 it seemed much harder, probably due to the fact that we had good weather this time.

7 of us set off on the 'H' ride on Saturday, Howard, Dr Dave, Chris C, Ian H, Shaun and Dave B.
On a warm day we had a great ride to Helmsley via the climbs of Crayke, Wass, Hawnby and Laskill, Dave B and Chris C peeling off before Coxwold.
Immediate climbing out of Helmsley to Rievaulx, Scawton to a great descent of Sutton Bank (Dr Dave and Ian decided, due to time, on a shorter route home via White Horse). Very enjoyable blast back to York via Bagby, Dalton, Helperby, Tollerton.

Sorry I missed Kevin's small group as it would have been helpful to test my repaired gears and body after my mini fiasco 3 weeks earlier.
I took off alone rather than be pathetic again, and survived the hill at Kirkham with successful gear changes, but then couldn't find a way across the A64. I crossed safely enough at Whitwell-on-the-hill only to find that it led nowhere. I travelled down the cycle path to the Welburn road and hit a deep hole hidden under sticks and assorted rubble. This suggested I was the first person all winter to venture onto it.
I punctured and found it came from a displaced patch which had served me well for a year on the front wheel. New tube put in and home via Bulmer.
I've a lot to learn about routes, but hopefully bike and body back in reasonable form to show my face on Saturday again

Took my Madone out (now on frame no. 3!) for its first spin this year on the grp h ride; I'd forgotten how much I like this bike - OK, she's highly strung but when she's good she's very, very good...

I think I fell for that one too - Google believes there's a road out of the Whitwell 'loop' off the A64 called Whitwell Rd, which would take you through to the Castle Howard straight. But when I tried to use it, I found a farm track with a curly gateway over it, fine for MTB perhaps.
