Wednesday Evening Ride

Post by A Atkin »

Anyone up for re-instigating the Wednesday evening rides?

As far as I can remember from last year we set off around 6.30pm for a medium paced (i.e. not chaingang) ride for about an hour, and I think they started about this time last year.

There were three different routes: one starting from Cycleheaven out through Bishopthorpe and round the airfield, one starting from the end of Stockton lane out to Bossall etc, and one other from somewhere near Nestle (didn’t ride this one myself).

I guess all the above details are up for discussion, just thought I’d give us somewhere to work from.

I suspect that by starting this thread I have effectively volunteered myself as organiser. This is fine so long as it gets me away from my Turbo for one night in a week!

Hi - I've only just filled out my membership application for Clifton CC and am brand new to this site. I'd defo be up for some evening rides but I've never ridden with a club. It's probably a difficult one to answer but I'm wondering about levels of fitness / experience needed to join in and survive?! :?:

I would be up for it again, as last year the rides did get a bit fast if theres enough interest two groups could meet at the same venue/time.

come on anyone else interested, last year it was good winter training

I'd like to try and get out for a few Wed evenings again this year again too.

As discussed today - bravo for stepping forward with this!
As I said, I'm keen and will try to generally get out, but I can't commit 100% to any one particular Wed due to family logistics (like most of us I guess).

Wednesday night rides

Post by Chris_C »

Two or three Saturday rides has been the limit of my involvement with the club so far. I would, however, be interested in some (comparatively) short evening rides, provided the pace is not too hectic. Wednesday is also currently a free evening for me.

Could you let me know when you have a date and route organised?

Thanks

I'm game for this. How about starting off tomorrow (8/10) from Pete's bench (the city end of Stockton Lane) at 18:30? I think I can remember the route!

Good plan! See you there.

Judging by last year the pace should be about 16-17 mph for about an hour. Also, it'll be held in an "All For One..." type spirit, no one will be left behind!

Cheers,

Anthony.

P.S. Bring lights!

Mini roundabout joining A1036 (Heworth Green and Malton road), Heworth Road and Stockton Lane.

Six intrepid riders (Rob, Howard, Shawn(sp?), Tim, Ian and myself) were out tonight. I had 28 miles on the clock after getting back to Copmanthorpe in a little over an hour and a half

Excellent ride chaps, Cycleheaven next week...

Yes count me in for next weeks ride.
It was my first ride out with the club this evening and I thoroughly enjoyed it!
I wasn't sure what the pace would be like but it it was spot on!
