Yorkshire Alps Ride

Post by Helen »

Planning a date for the Yorkshire Alps Ride.

For those who don't know it's a club classic.
Leave York and head for Richmond, the Stang,TanHill,Buttertubs and Fleetmoss, before heading back to York within 12 hours.

I have pencilled in the 10th August.

If a lot of riders want to do it and can't make the 10th August I can put it back to the 14th September. The weather is meant to be good then but
we will need lights.

Please post if you want to do it and which date.

Any other questions etc please email me.

I would not mind doing it, but the question is would I be able to? I dont know as I struggled on sunday and was feeling awfull the last 60 miles. If I could do it then 10th august, if it has to be on september 14th I might come home for it if I am capable of doing it.

September 14th sounds good. I'll be on.
There might be (early) snow on the Yokshire Alps?

I'd like to do this one and may be able if you do it on the 10th of August.

I can only do 10th actually if I decide to do it, the 14th is the day I'm actually moving so deffo cant do it then.

With abit of luck it will be colder, I would have loved some rain today, if its this hot on the 10th and if it is that day its done I suspect it will feel like torture in the burning sun, I kept emptying like half of my drink bottle onto myself today I was so fried.

Hi Helen,

Would love to do this ride, however 10th August in Norway and the 14th Sept probably the last triathlon of the season. Any chance of 7th September?

If not can I have the route and will try to do it off that!

Hi there

It's the clubs road race on the 6th September so there won't be a club run.
Will pass on the route.

Will go ahead for the weekend of 14th September as more riders can make that. I am thinking about doing the ride on the Saturday rather than the Sunday as a couple of people have said this would be better for them.

In the mean time, thinking of Steve and Will, I will a plan in another a classic route for the 10th August. Speaking to Bernard as he has plans for Ravenscar.

I will post details in an August up-date later in the week.

Blummin heck, my better half has something arranged for me for the 10th so I'm not available anyway. Hopefully make the September ride instead. I'd really like to do Ravenscar too, I'd take the day off work if it could be done on Saturday 9th. I know it's really difficult to organise things to suit everyone.

Have I missed a plan/route for this? I'm hoping to come along on the 13th. It'll be my longest trip by a factor of two but it's a great end-of-'summer' challenge.

I should be around for September ride. Need to dust off road bike though as I have only done 10 miles in last month.

Following feedback we shall do this ride on Saturday 13th September.
Nick will be leading and we shall start in the square at 0730.
Plan to be back within 12 hours but it's best to bring lights just in case.

Will some small lights be ok? Wont be pitch black?

Any idea on how many miles it is, I'd like to still do this but am wanting to be careful to avoid getting worse every week, at the moment I seem to be getting better every week as I'm resting plenty now.
