Nicks right about the circuit. The one suggested is too tight for group riding and sprinting out of the corners just means it will get split up every half mile.
A better circuit would be to ride up through Acaster village to the T jnc and right for Appleton to pick up the circuit. Then left in Appleton and left near Acaster Selby and back round. Safe roads, no giveways, flat with long straight sections. Its holding wheels at speed thats the name of this game.
And its on the way to the suggested circuit anyway.
An idea for the Come and Try aswell perhaps for next year?

I'd thought about that one for second half of the session when I was sure we weren't dropping people  The disadvantage is the road across the airfield is narrow - it means singling out if we meet a car. Will give 'em both a go and report back.

I agree about holding wheels but - especially with the circuits which the TLI's use - it's also about riding close, watching for and responding to changes in pace. Especially at Milby you risk going up someone's backside or off the road if you get too much into full speed ahead mode! Bit of both maybe - there's plenty of evening to play with.

Good idea about the CATI - as you say, priority at all the junctions. Is there a village hall in Appleton Roebuck for HQ?

I second Paul's suggestion of route. The airfield road is narrow but there's so little traffic on it I wouldn't worry

I'd like to help out/join in too. Timing is a bit early for me, but since I'm closer (via Bishopthorpe 'Fisher' bridge) to Acaster than to York, I could meet you there. If the route is settled, name a couple of roads/villages on it (Appleton?) and I'll try to ride over there about 7 and pick you up?

Tomf: if people are going with the Acaster router, then come of the bike path in Bish, turn left and head down towards Acaster/Ship Inn. Turn left at the T past the Ship and then just follow round to the T junction at the end. You're then on the circuit.

If you turn left there you'll be going the opposite way round so should pick people up.

(In your direction: Left at T, along the airfield, left at end, left in Appleton Roebuck and back round the the start)

There's a faint hope I'll make it out this week.

I will come out on the 8th and the 15th July if there's any other takers. I will then (unless I'm completely rubbish at it!) do the race on the 22nd.

To any other potential newbies. Pop your interest down here.

To those who know what it's all about and offering to show us the ropes. Big thankyou.

Phil - if you're going to lead this one, how about creating a new thread with the details/start time etc. I'll then adjust the calendar suitably.

It looks a bit like I may have domestic duties so I may or may not be there - any others amongst the old hands willing to turn up and give the benefit of your experience?
