Club TT Result - 5/6/08

Post by Rob »

OK, below is the final result. But first a few comments.

A big thankyou to all the marshals and helpers - Ian Holmes, Nigel G, Mac, Bernard, Barbara, Claire and Siobhan.

We had 36 starters whaich is our highest number in the modern era. Many of you are new to this, so a couple of top tips:

Your number has to be read by the finish timekeeper. You can help by pinning it to your lower back (not your shoulder blades) so its in view when you're tucked over the bars. One of you managed to pin it on upside-down :roll: . It also helps if you shout your number as you pass the chequered board.

Please, please, please don't ask the finish timekeeper for your time while the event is in progress - they have to concentrate on the other finishers. Avoid blocking their view by returning to HQ. The results will be available afterwards, or on here a bit later on.......

So, to the result (all riders Clifton unless stated):

1. Jamie Sharp, York Cycleworks, 23-16
2. Andy Johnson 23-22
3= Charlie Evans 23-26
3= Mark Addinal, York Cycleworks, 23-26

I think the reason these are getting record numbers is down to the organisation. Super efficient sign on, informative and encouraging marshals and everyone very welcoming to all the new riders. Star of the night though has to go to the girl who counted us off (I presume from Robs posting that was Siobhan?) excellent job!!

Yep, actually I pinned on number 13 for my friend the wrong way round (purposefully) - it's a superstition thing (sorry if that's a bit silly?). Told him to shout out the number next time, so (if he ever does get unlucky 13 again) it shouldn't be an issue. Apologies for the confusion caused...

Very good organisation, friendly atmosphere, good weather for TTing. What more can you ask for?

I was *about* to say something like "in 20yrs time I'll be staring my 70th birthday in the face so you *should* be beating me..." and then I looked at the results and noticed Arnie breathing down my neck.

Clearly, It's Not About the Age....
