Just to add my bit to what's already been said re Grimpeur.
I really enjoyed the event, the organisation, weather, scenery and food at the end.
I rode off the start with John Cocker and got half a mile to the 1st 1 in 4 and I never saw John again, I had an enjoyable time travelling round part of the way with Neil, Johns dad and seeing Nick and Helen sometimes, they would overtake me and then I would have shorter cafe stops.
Really happy to have completed the 200 (which is 215) and look forward to my 3rd ride in the dales in 3 weeks with the White Rose Classic on Sunday.

Swam 7 laps of the Regional Champs. Was going ok and felt strong. Having completed 6 of 8 laps I was in a group of about 10 counting down the laps to the finish. Climbing into Sheriff someone at the roadside shouted there were only 12 in front of us and when we turned into the finish on that lap the bell rang and the lap board said 1 lap to go. We all looked at one another and knew that was wrong but its not like you can ask. We assumed the race was being shortened due to the conditions. So we treated the penultimate lap like the last lap. I got away a couple of times and had to chase like hell to close a gap after Bulmer. With 1 km to go we were all across the road and I jumped from the bottom of the climb to the finish. I ended up being passed by 4 riders but I wasn't bothered. We turned into the finish - and then the bell rang again............
It was like a sick joke. Two of the lads were so shocked they crashed. 4 carried on the rest of us retired. However the BC commissaires have said we will get points and it was there mistake, which is some consolation.
Excellant rides by other York riders - Phil Graves, Jamie Sharpe and Alastaur Kay all getting into the right half of the race. Charlie also did a lot of work over the first half and a great pic of him on the BC website.
Thanks to Andy and everyone who turned out to marshall and help on such a horrible day and for their shouts of encouragement.
It was a proper race on a proper course and I hope it inspires a few of the newer members to give road racing a go.

Glad to hear the riders will get some reward for their efforts having read about the officials' cock-up - shades of the final stage farce around Dublin city centre in last year's Tour of Ireland?paulM wrote:However the BC commissaires have said we will get points and it was there mistake, which is some consolation.
