Sorry about forgetting to mention the fall Ian! Glad the bike is all OK and hope the arm/shoulder eases off. The trick is to keep it moving with as much gentle movement as possible!Ian hagyard wrote:Most of my ride covered by Dr Dave apart for the fact that The bike skidded from under me when stopping at a farm entrance in Kilburn, went down heavily onto my Right side with my upper arm taking the brunt of the damage still the good news was my bike was OK, I was looking to do 100 miles which I managed after leaving the group and headed towards Langton then over the Wolds to near Sledmere then back via Stamford Bridge, could hardly move my arm by the time I got home and Sunday it was no better, however its a little easier today so I hope to make the TLI race at Wistow on Tuesday.
Weekend Round Up

To my fellow Sunday funsters - I beat the clock to be home before 2pm, just! To feel less guilty at missing the Egton and Rosedale challenges I took a quick (?) detour via the hill to Appleton on my way to Lastingham, but it didn't have quite the same "cachet". Well done to you intrepid grimpeurs.
I'd clocked up 95 miles by the time I got back, which was something of a surprise considering I didn't get much further than about 5 miles north of Pickering.

Wow, another busy weekend for the mighty Clifton.
I was the other Clifton rider doing the Hessle 210K. A good ride from the Humber Bridge to Driffield, Flamborough Head, Malton and back. Mostly sunshine but a cold wind, I could have done with my Aldi gillet. Along with Andy J, I slotted in with a group of Hull lads who knew the route and were making a reasonably progressive pace with Like My Bike turning the screw on the rises. Entering this Audax, I knew 130 miles was going to be a bit much for me a the moment and sure enough a few miles from the finish I blew up. Still after a short stop and a bit of high energy carbo loading (ate a banana), I was near enough to the finish and it was down hill enough to let the bike find its way there with little input from me, for a well earned cup of tea. Along with perhaps getting a few Hull recruits for our Three Bridge Audax, a good day's work.

Yes I think last Sunday completed my long goodbye to open time trialling - it just doesn't do anything for me anymore. I think I need more incentive with the racing I do now. Lets face it in a field of that quality I'm going to be well beaten and just riding round for the chance of beating a time I'd done 10 years previously doesn't really work for me. However none of this was going through my head until after I'd been pushed off - but its not the first time...
Was having this conversation with a gnarled old north east veteran after he staggered in to the hq and was laid sprawled out on the bench next to me. I said I'd found the going really tough to which he said I was supposed to. I felt like taking him by the throat and telling him the last time we'd done this event we took the team prize!
However on the plus side I did get freedom of the sandwiches before the other vultures decended and then went out on Monday and nearly tore the cranks off the bike on a training ride. I then rode Wakefield CC's 2/3/4 cat Evening road race last night - a fast and furious affair and I came in about 15th - much more entertaining.
