Rode the Stan Robson Trophy - Elite/1/2/3 road race over 8 laps of the Ingleby Greenhow/Easby/Stokesley circuit on Sunday - a race distance of 86miles. When I say Elite race - it had the same sense of occasion as a 3/4 RR but twice as long and 3 times as hard! Its the first race I've finished since mid March and when I say finish thats all I can report. spent all race hanging on - it was really fast and its one of those slowly wearing down circuits which offers no rest. I really had to will myself round this one but finished with the bunch. I think Kev Dawson won and I think Dave Compston from Brid CC was second but the results aren't on the BC website and I was sat in me car during the presentation regaining strength to drive home. I could have ridden a 2/3 cat race at Kippax (on a circuit I hate) instead on Sunday, but I'll enter the Div Champs on the strength of Sundays ride - there is no better training!

Went out for a Wold's climbs ride yesterday - couldn't waste the day!Found a few roads I hadn't before - including a short sharp pull up from Burythorpe to Birdsall which is as steep as anything I've done for a while!

When I got home I found that I'd also managed to break my all-time downhill record - 49.7 mph. Shame I didn't realise at the time or I'd have gone for the 50!
