Jammed Ergo Shifter

Post by Rob »

My right hand ergo shifter has jammed with the rear mech on the smallest cog. Anybody had this before and even more importantly does anyone know a cure? I've tried to free it by releasing the cable and squirting in liberal amounts of WD40. No luck. Do I have to strip it down?

The only time that happened to me it was caused by the rubber hood getting stuck, but I assume that you've taken that off.

There's some good instructions on the web about how to dis-assemble ergos if you fancy a fun few hours - you need a bench vise, various allen keys and a lot of patience! I got Mercian to repair my Chorus ones a while back and they were good.
