Weekend Round up 25th -26th Nov

Post by Steen Berg »

Five of us today a great improvement on last week. So the extra spend on the marketing paid off. Muzzy, AndyG, Neil and Rich. Impressively Rich was also out yesterday with the A ride. Not sure of his contribution yesterday but he certainly pulled his weight today . Much less to pull these days !

We went out via the safe option of the Gally Gap thinking it would be gritted which it was and the drivers out this morning gave us some respect and space for being out on such a cold morning. Patches of frost and ice on the very minor roads. At one point after Colwlar we had a two wheels bad two feet good situation and had to walk the slippery part of the hill. Plenty taking advantage of the low prices in the cafe at Driffield
Our return ride home was swift with everyone taking a turn into a cool breeze. Still a lot of Ice to negotiate before Millington Must have been about 3.20 by the time we were back in York.
That concludes my contractual obligation.
Next week sees the start of the '' Mid Winter Project ''

Family ride for us in the Dales. The three of us made this as well attended as many club rides I've been on recently! Staying at Muker in Swaledale, saw us head down the valley towards Reeth on Sunday morning. Sharp right and up the Fleak. Stunning views under a blue sky and a hard frost. Several icey stretches had to be walked, but it was worth it. Down into Wensleydale and along to Hawes for lunch in the Firebox Cafe (recommended). Then Buttertubs, Siobhan learning how to grit teeth! Fantastic decent back to Swaledale and back to Muker. Nevermind the distance, it was a tough ride in the cold conditions and a great birthday celebration for yours-truly.
