3 Bridges Ride 6th August

Post by Jon G »

Was wondering if this ride is likely to be an earlier start from the square on Saturday :?:

Another query. Is the ride recorded on ride with GPS, map my ride or similar? If so could the link be posted up?

Here's the route from a few years ago, assuming it hasn't changed since then.

At the weekend Bernard suggested the ride would be starting and finishing in York. Is it this route but with the addition of the route into and out of York?

Greg as posted the route from when its been a an Audax in the past starting at Stamford Bridge.
I'm certainly assuming that its the same route but with the additional ride from York and back. Picking up the route from Stamford Bridge and then on the return heading back to York probably without going back to Stamford Bridge I'm guessing as it not an audax event. Confirmation would be good though :D

Hi first the start from the square needs to be sharp at 9.00 as last year we ended up with a 115 mile ride York back to York. I believe that we will need to have at least 2 groups these being based on the usual A and K ride guys, if there are more people then we may have to make up 3 groups, but we can decide this at the square.
With regards to the route I gave out a map last year ( hard copy), showing the route out from York, but then instead of going into Pocklington ( and attempting to reduce the distance), we went across the A1079 instead of turning left into Feoffees Lane, at Barmby Moor. Then on to Thornton and over the canal bridge towards Melbourne, then left and right to pick up the usual route to Everingham, Harswell and onto the A614 before turning right for Cliffe etc.
Which will then be back to Greg's Audax route, all the way to the Humber Bridge via High Hunsley, Riplingham cross roads, Raywell and towards Willerby and through either Swanland or via the housing estate towards Jenny Brough Lane and the Bridge.
For the return, last year we came back from Goole to Howden and then via Brind, Wressle, Breighton and Bubwith as we don't need to get back to Stamford Bridge!!

I have created a TCX file of the route as Bernard has described from and back to York, if anyone would like a copy just email me at i.hagyard@ntlworld.com and I will forward it on to you I haven't got a link to put on here as I created it in bike hike but once you have the file you can put it onto your Garmin if you have one or view it on the bike hike site.

See you at 9am in the square.

Will there be a cafe stop on this ride and will the pace be similar to the usual 10am A ride?

Cafe could be Barton visitors centre at the south side of the Humber Bridge or the Goole waterways Museum depending how the group feel at the time I suppose.
