Strange........

A strange thing happened to me this morning, I was cycling on Corban Lane in Wigginton, cycling away from Browns Nursery towards Wigginton on my own. About half way along I noticed a lady walking in the opposite direction on the right hand side of the road. Seeing me approaching, the lady ran across to my side of the road waving her arms furiously. Thinking she had had an accident I stopped and asked if there was a problem. "Where did you get your bike lights" she asked. A bit dumbfounded by this question I told her the first thing that came into my head. "Wiggle" I replied. "Wiggle" she asked...."Whats Wiggle". I told her that it was an internet company and she started to tell me that she was useless on the internet. Thinking that this was a conversation that I did not wish to have, I told this lady that I was meeting friends and was late and would have to go. Wishing her a good day I cycled off.
This lady appeared to be alone ie not a dog walker etc, it was only when I got onto Wigginton Road that the cynic in me wondered if she was working with cycle thieves.
Has anyone else experienced this?

Yes! I think it is the same lady I have had some problems with this last summer/autumn, biking on the same road, walking along the side of the road (Glasses, long brown hair?). It started with her muttering things as I passed on my way into work. After a few occasions the lady would wave her hands at me and when I stopped she would shout profanities at me. I asked her a few times what was wrong to no avail. The last time I biked to work she seemed very angry so tend to avoid her now. This as a I say was a few months ago but appears to be the same person you are describing on Corban Lane.

Thanks for your reply....yes glasses and brown hair but only shoulder length now. I'll just cycle past next time.

Hi Ros

I've come across this lady a number of times on that stretch of road, both while cycling and when driving the car. More often than not, she's been carrying a couple of heavy looking shopping bags. I was never quite sure if it was shopping or, perhaps, all her worldly possessions.

The scariest thing is that a couple of times she has deliberately crossed from the safe side of the road, facing oncoming traffic, to the side I've been driving/cycling on.

If I'm on my bike she has shouted things a couple of times as I've passed but I've never actually stopped.

Grateful thanks for posting guys...feel a bit better about it all now, I did feel a little vulnerable at 9.30ish on Saturday morning when I was the only person around apart from the occasional passing motorist.

Yes she is a nutcase! I used to live in Shipton and she regularly walks up and down screaming 'slow down' to all cars that go past while waving her arms!
