08:45 Saturday 3rd January

Post by MikeR »

Forecast at the moment looks changeable; however, wind looks to be coming from south west, so will plan a 60 mile route that heads west and brings us back with the wind from Tadcaster.

New year resolutions:
1. Revert to meeting before 08:45 and leave the square at 08:45
2. I will try and post a Garmin link before the ride so everyone knows the proposed route
3. If the weather on the morning is so bad or icy that it doesn't make sense to ride, I will post a note by 08:00 and people can join the training ride if they are determined to get out

If you know you want to come on the ride but can't make it to the square at 08:45, please post a note or PM me.

Is there a road from Sicklinghall to Linton as your route?

Good spot Dave - Garmin had let me pick up a road that doesn't look like it would be much fun on a road bike. Have adjusted, picking up the bigger roads and giving us just over 60 miles. The link should work for the updated route.

Great ride today out to Harewood and back, thanks Dave for the route correction. Six in the Square: Gerard, Simon, Pete, Ed and Steve, for a prompt 08:45 start.

The weather held out for most of the ride, only getting mildly damp in the middle section - I was sure that I saw some blue sky early on. I think the hills around East Keswick also came as a bit of a shock for a mostly flat ride.

Long range forecast looks good for next weekend, so fingers crossed for some actual blue skies.
