If it’s useful, here’s one little plan to watch the Tour at Grinton climb: I'll be leaving York at 7.00am and driving 1 hour to Bedale to park the car and if no space there, then Northallerton.
Either town will make it a 15-20 mile bike ride to arrive at Grinton/ Reeth by 9.30am.

Mike H will be riding up Cote do Grinton between 10-12am or thereabouts.
Roads closed to cyclists at 12.45pm. Publicity caravan around 1.15pm onwards.… and then the world’s best riders passing at 3pm.

The nice thing about Grinton is that it’s a long climb that can accommodate a lot of people. And sections of it have sloped sides, so even if crowds are 4 deep, you could just stand on the slopes 10 metres away from the road and still see all the action.

At least 8 of us will be there and hope to see more.
Really looking forward to it. :D

I think Karl's timings are probably realistic to ensure getting to Grinton before the better roadside spots are bagged. Getting a decent spot to scavenge freebies and get as close as possible to the riders does enhance the experience. Like Ian, I think Catterick is a sensible parking choice. I'm thinking Catterick around 9am approx.......
