Bank Holiday Monday

Post by AndyM »

Howdy Folks!

Does anyone have a day pass and fancy a club-run style ride on Monday at 9am? Hoping for something fairly chilled (17-18 mph) after Sunday's Tan Hill Audax.

I was thinking an anti-clockwise Cockayne loop, with a stop at Helmsley for cake.

It'd be 9am, in The Square as usual, and back mid-afternoon. Please post up if you're keen. :)

Yep, will probably be just over 80 miles Square-to-Square, with cafe stop a bit later than half way :)

Good ride today Andy, very well-led.....many thanks.

Some top riding by you and Mike on the way back and, in some parts, at a quick pace......all the more impressive on your part coming the day after Tan Hill and an aggregate mileage of around 220 I guess.....well done

The perils of stopping at the Helmsley cafe without a toilet:

I go to the toilet. When I return, Andy/Andy/Mike look like they're about to set off.
I go in to fill my bottles. When I come out again, they've vanished. Muttering something about not waiting, I try to case them down.
They haven't set off, they've actually gone over to the toilets in the car park to find me. When I don't appear, they work out what's happened and set off after me.
Nobody finds each other until York. Oops!

Despite all that it was a grand day out, so thanks Andy for suggesting it. The weather was perfect and showed off the moors in all their glory, roadkill and all! That'll probably be my last club run until at least Christmas, so it was good to end on a high.

Thanks Andy! Yeah a really good ride on Monday - the views across the moors were just fantastic. Thanks for the company folks, and I hope Dr Joe and Co. enjoyed their ride too :) Another 100 miles in the bank for me by the time I was home, and coupled with the 75 or so I did yesterday, a nice 310 miles over the past 3 days.
