It sounds like the city centre races were a great success, so I'm sure a few people will hae stories about those. What did everyone else get up to?
I was taking part in a very different championship this weekend: the Mersey Roads 24 hour TT. I'd picked a 430 mile target months ago, but I'm pretty busy at the moment and haven't been able to train as much as I'd like, so I was dubious about reaching it: anything over 400 would do. Nobody was therefore more surprised and amazed than me when I finished with 442.9 miles on the clock - I never thought I was capable of doing that distance! It gave me 15th place in what is a national champs, so I'm certainly not going to sneeze at that - I've got other things to distract me from sneezing, like my painful kneecaps, my numb feet, a bit of chafing ...
(I think Gill should try one of these, she'd be good at it, nudge nudge )
Port de Pollenca to Lluc then Puig Major and lunch in Soller before the climb over to Bunyola. Wimped out of Orient and looped round via Santa Maria.
Back via Alaro, Selva and Campanet.
85 miles, 7000 ft, max temp of 105.2 deg on the Garmin and 6 litres of fluids

I wore my Clifton 'euro style' cap all the way round, to try to pretend I was on holiday in Mallorca like some people here! I'd have worn an aero helmet except that my neck is the sorest part of my body as it is: blame my massive head.
y'know the feeling you get after a 'long' ride when you're legs feeling like they're still turning when you sleep, well I bet yours are still going now!

Ha thanks! I'll be marshalling LEL at Pocklington, trying to spot Steen when he comes through. They're still a bit short of volunteers at Brampton, so if anyone is at a loose end next week and fancies an all-expenses-paid trip to the Scottish borders, email volunteer@londonedinburghlondon.com
After that, I'll be cheering you on your own 24 attempt
Seriously, Lynne Taylor won the women's event with 423, Tabitha Rendall was second with 414. At this level people do about 200 miles more in the 24 than in the 12, so you'd be up there.
Hi, I had already p m'd Greg about his 24 hour triumph but I am with Mark A about putting it in the public domain, so BLOODY WELL DONE GREG!
I am having a very quiet cycling year to date for various reasons (laziness) after what was, for me, quite a busy year last year. I would also pay tribute to Greg as a big influence on my efforts last year with his seemingly endless enthusiasm, encouragement and practical advice. I doubt whether I would have tackled the national 12 hour tt without his involvement (He has already started planning my own assault on the 24 hour tt next year it seems)
Thanks Greg
I know I have trouble finding helmets that fit my massive noggin anyway, but if you lot keep this up, it'll be so big that it really will fall off after 100 miles next time!
I'm leaving in the autumn but there are two 24s next year, so two of you can take turns riding and supporting each other
