National Crit Champs / York Cycling City Races

Post by PhilBixby »

It's reminder time everyone! Two things:-

First - The National Crit Champs and Youth / 3rds/4ths races are happening on Sunday week (21st). With an afternoon and early evening of racing, followed by big-screen TV viewing of the finish of the 2013 TdF, it'll be a great day in town. Clifton - your club - will be...

-Running the race HQ and signing-on
-Marshalling inside the barriers on the circuit (not controlling pedestrians crossing!)
-Running the all-new Clifton gazebo to let everyone know what the club's about and helping Andy J who will have the Wattbikes parked up next door.

So! If everyone puts in an hour or so at some point throughout that lot, we'll have no problems getting all the jobs done and everyone will be able to see the stuff they want to - and you can be part of it too.

Second - City Screen will be showing the quirky and wonderful Belleville Rendezvous on Sunday afternoon at 1:30. Following that we'll have an informal get-together in the café/bar (hopefully in the sun on the terrace) to talk through arrangements for the 21st. Please come along!

Just making sure my name is on the list to help out. Happy to work from 12.30 to finish.

Any idea what time the film you mentioned will end/when the meeting will start? Saving the pennies for race entries...

I'd imagine with a 1:30 start it'll end around 3:00-3:15 depending on how many trailers / ads / Virgin shorts / etc.

You're on my list Graham, don't worry :)

Thanks for all the other offers of help, but there are still plenty of jobs to go around. As Phil mentioned, if folks are not free for the whole afternoon, then even just helping for an hour or so would be very much appreciated. If you're unsure what is involved, why not come along on Sunday afternoon for a drink and film - it's a good opportunity to ask Phil and me what will be involved on the day.

I have stumbled across a start list for the elite races, and as you'd expect for the Crit Champs there are some big names attending.

Names include: Lucy Garner, Hannah Barnes and Amy Roberts for the women's race, and for the men's we have Ed Clancy MBE, Kristian House, Yanto Barker, Andy Tennant, Graham Briggs, Kit Gilham, and Dean and Russell Downing among many others.

This is your chance to get the best seat in the house to watch some fantastic racing! Please help :D

Hopefully see lots of Cliftonites on Sunday!

Hi Andy,
Sorry could not make it this afternoon. I am happy to help anytime during the afternoon. Lisa is also happy to pitch in if you need an extra body (but not to provide catering for the whole of York!). Drop me a pm if need be.

Put me down for what ever you need phil. but I would like to be able to roam around a bit and take some pics of everyone doing their bit, but I don't want to be left out.

Thanks very much for the offers of help, folks!

I'll get some info to you all in the next day or two, and don't worry Rich - there won't be any catering duties!
