Dan - didn't see you last Saturday. Strange that because to slip off the back you always have to pass me!

I agree with Reuben, this group was never supposed to be as quick as it has become. Its not a big issue for me as I am always found hanging off the back regardless of which group I am with and when I get dropped, which is always the case, I just finish the route in my own time. I have however introduced a couple of guys to this ride from outside the club. Both enjoyed the rides in the early days when the pace was a bit friendlier but both have since been put off by the pace of the recent rides.

Regarding ride descriptions;

We are in the process of revamping the website to tidy up the descriptions of our rides and bring them up to date. If you looked at it from a newcomers point of view a) the information is all over the place and b)the descriptions are quite out of date. Please bear with us.

Regarding the (now infamous) 8.45 ride. The description will read something like "a brisk, non-stop 3 hour social ride for experienced riders." As has been said many times, it is not a training ride - but it is also not simply 1/2 a K ride. We have to try to keep a distinction between our various rides so they have a clear identity and this came about by demand for a fast ride that didn't drop people but didn't take all day with a cafe, i.e. similar pace to the Intermediate.

Allan - just as I'd never recommend the Intermediate ride to a newcomer, I'm not sure it was wise to bring along newcomers to this ride. We should really be introducing riders gently to the skills of fast group riding and letting them find their 'legs' on the 10am rides first.

Happy cycling :D
