Post by Cam B »

I should be out on Saturday. Suggest we do West route:

West:- York, Appleton Roebuck, Tadcaster, Bramham, Thorner, Barwick, Aberford, Sherburn, Cawood, and back to York (with a loop of the Bishopwood circuit thrown in.. at no extra charge).

9.00am Exhibition Square

Hope to be out, and not sick like last week!

Isn't part of that route also part of the Saxton course for Tuesday nights race? If so how about a loop, or two, of that instead of Bishopwood?

Not really but from Google maps it looks to share a road between Aberford and Sherburn. Could be wrong, anyone else know?

Should be out. Yup, the Saxton circuit includes the run from Lotherton Hall towards Sherburn, taking a left before the right-left double bend. Could do a lap of that, regroup and then do a lap of Bishopwood too! (...and still no extra charge).

I'll be out. Happy to try out the Saxon circuit. We decided against it a few weeks ago as a few people needed to get back. Does it extend the route by a great deal? My Saturday morning pass out doesn't extend much past noon these days.

Cheers

According to the start sheet it's a five mile circuit. So, about fifteen minutes.

I'll be out. All these offers of free race laps are very generous. Doubt I'll feel quite so well looked after post-Saxton and Bishopwood!

See you in the square :D

A good training ride this morning with some swift blokes driving it along towards the end. Despite the iffy weather forecast it just about stayed dry, with a stiff westerly making the outward leg hard work. I didn't do a count-up but with Muzzy joining us en route and Arthur slotting in for an hour or so there were over a dozen.

It all pretty much stayed together until Lotherton Hall and throughout a lap of the upcoming Tuesday night Saxton circuit (with a fair bit of collective drawing of breath through teeth over the various climbs) and it wasn't until a lap of Bishopwood that it split into two groups, regrouping and then again splitting as the pace cranked up after Cawood. I was in the rear group and it was 21.1mph and 233W for the out-of-town part of the ride. Many thanks to all for a safe ride.

Top ride today. A good sized group which worked really well. Tried to hang onto the front group through Bishopwood and after Cawood but it wasn't happening. Still a good morning's work and more miles in the bank.

I was amazed to find that I had a power profile for today's ride. Not bad considering I don't have a power meter! I suspect my Garmin's been reading Phil's output. I'll be checking his data later

Looking forward to next week's outing already :D

Off the back before Bishopwood for me. I seem to be getting weaker as the summer draws near.

I can't work out what it is as I'm training as much as last year but not improving. I was knackered after 15 miles today! I've pretty much given up hope of being competitive this year.

I'll be out next week to put myself through it again of course!

Hey Martin,

I know your problem - sleep! Or rather lack of! New fathers all get it. I'd be tempted to knock back the distances you do and gets some early nights for a fortnight. When you do ride just keep it short and explosive. Might make a difference.

Think also about your food intake too Mart. A few more carbs could do you some good, your physique is designed for hill climbing. ;-)
