Saturday 13th April - 8:45am ride

Post by reubenbarrett »

OK, my turn to decide the route. Here is my proposal:
http://bikeroutetoaster.com/Course.aspx?course=523061

Stockton-on-the-Forest - Upper Helmsley - Buttercrambe - Skirpenbeck - Bugthorpe - PAINsthorpe Lane - Birdsall - Malton - Coneysthorpe - Bulmer - Sheriff Hutton - Strensall - Haxby

Total distance of about 52 miles, we should be back in the square for noon - ish. Same as last week, no pressure to stay together all of the time, particularly on the hills, but we'll re-group at the top and try to make sure everyone gets back together.

Big turn-out today for the new 8:45am ride - 15 in the square and we picked up Naomi on the way out to make 16. Even Broom Wagon joined us for a couple of minutes until he decided he wanted a thorough beasting and headed back to join the training ride. Beautiful weather today, spring is finally here!

We did lose a newbie on Stockton Lane who decided that our pace was perhaps a bit much. And Naomi dropped off after valiantly getting up Painsthorpe Lane, keep joining us.

Pace was a bit quicker than last week (Tim J joined us!) but we stopped at the top of hills and waited at junctions. No-one was left behind without our knowledge and I think everyone felt they had a good work-out.

My trip stats here along with a few other Strava fans: http://app.strava.com/activities/48555581

After only 2 weeks, this is a big turn-out, so I think this ride should become a regular fixture for Clifton. I am going to start another thread about the organisation of this ride tomorrow when I have a bit more time to post to try and formalise the rotating leadership of rides etc.

What did you all think?

Hi all
After a few weeks of hard blocks of training i fancied a steady ride with the Reubens ride.I must apologise if sometimes i did a bit too much i certainly didnt mean to.Anyway i was suprised how many turned up and the weather was a dream to ride in so off we went steady away on flat and left to our own devices on the climbs.Very enjoyable morning thanks all.
