Training ride, Saturday 9th

..and in late-breaking news, you'll be relieved that you won't have to suffer my mudguardlessness; after a couple of days down south at a trade show I've simply got too much to do. Sounds like enough wise heads to sort things out - just two suggestions:- (i) if it's really lashing down have a chat about what you reckon would be best use of the time - simple brisk miles may be more valuable than hammering round Escrick, and (ii) if you do choose to do fast laps, split the groups before you set off so you don't have any hanging around getting cold. Mind how you go (he says, picking his scabs!)
Well that was quite an ordeal.
Bad day in the saddle for me. Few mechanical issues but basically rode the lumps to Malton in a gear that was too big for my legs!
By the time we'd got to terrington couldn't keep with the front three. Decent ride home with Andy and John - must have split to bits behind.
Been feeling quite good last few weeks so hopefully this is just a temporary set back. cam and Andy were looking strong.

Well, my first training ride of the year and what a day to pick! Was a little skeptical when I set off from home, both about how I would cope with the pace and also about all that cold wet stuff due to fall from the sky.
Turned out I needn't have worried. Managed to stay reasonably warm all morning thanks to plenty of layers which was a bonus. It was only by Terrington that my hands got pretty cold and went numb. Quite enjoyed the through and off up front with Cam and Ewan - the three of us averaged a good 22.5mph back round the flat 10 course and back to Strensall. Cam was looking very strong, made it all look far too easy
3.5 hours at around 19mph door to door. Have to say I was certainly happy to get home and sit in front of the fire with a nice cuppa! Felt like we'd earned it.
See you all in a few weeks - cheers!
