2013 Reliability Ride UPDATE
Hi Everyone, I have driven the course today, what a fantastic day. Please take care tomorrow, there is some flooding across the road just before HUBY and after BYLAND ABBEY the water is across the road in both places.
Please watch out for flooding on the side of the road and ride single file. Despite the mild weather there was still some ice on parts of the road after CRAYKE and between COXWOLD & AMPLEFORTH. The rest of the route is ok, until the route reaches its highest point after BIRDSTALL the climb to the cross roads in ok with light snow turning to slush. From the cross road to route will be DIVERTED TURN RIGHT signpost LEAVENING follow this road through the village staying on this road until you reach the main road to MALTON at the T junction turn LEFT continue until you meet the original route – the flooding at Buttercrambe and Stamford Bridge is now clear.
DON’T FORGET TO VISIT OUR CAFÉ AT STAMFORD BRIDGE SCOUT HUT, WE HAVE HOT DRINKS, HOMEMADE SOUP, FRENCHSTICK AND HOMEMADE CAKE (FOLLOW THE SIGNS)
WE ALSO HAVE A RAFFLE TICKETS 20P each of £1.00 STRIP
See you Sunday, have a safe ride.
Best Regards

Another sensational day out on the Reliability ride!
Turned up to the Square just before 9.00 to find out that Rob had left early! Was later told that he’d been waved off early by the organisers. Never mind, Steen and Karl were on hand to join me. Soon ran into the back of another huge group of 30-40 riders on the Wiggy Road. When I pulled over to de-cape, a big bus passed me and soon became a rolling road-block behind the huge peloton. It wasn’t until Sutton on the Forest that the bus turned right and the group went left, thank goodness.
We decided to take off up the hill at Crayke to leave the big group behind. This worked well on the ascent but fell apart rocketing down the hill on the other side when I hit a rock and had a blowout, what a bummer! Steen and Karl stopped to help me as we watched everyone else sail by. From that point on, the three of us stuck together all the way round. Wind was generally favourable until we crested Birdsall and had to tackle it head on for the trip back to Stamford Bridge. There were loads of Clifton Clubbers out and we greeted many en route.
Big thanks to Andy J and all the organisers for arranging a fantastic event, we really enjoyed it. Loved the soup at the end. Special thanks to Steen and Karl for stopping to help me with my puncture and then sharing a great day out.
Chatted to Rob on the way back to York, apparently there are loads of exciting challenge rides planned for 2013 - should be a great year for those looking for some awesome days out on the bike. Hopefully see you all out there – what a great start to the year today!

On behalf of Malton Wheelers I would like to say a big thanks for setting this ride up.
We always look forward to it as we consider it a gauge of how fit you are at the start of the season.....to come.....
Riding out to meet you was interesting along the A64 at 7:30 in the morning. Then riding back from the Scout hut full of soup was just spot on with the wind on our backs.
92 miles in our legs, the sort of mileage we should be doing!
Thanks again. Maffers.

A midweek attack by something violently nasty moved my reliabilty status from "UN" to most definitely "NUN" and having negotiated a compromise of the return of the garage keys for a guaranteed no more than 3 hours riding I picked up the last 30% of the route just outside Malton. I hoped to do some mobile spectating but seemed to be just in front of the game so missed being able to cheer you all on at some point around Birdsall.
Sounds like a good day was had by all and I'm disappointed not to have been able join you.

Thanks to Andy J and team for expertly putting on this event.
I really enjoyed it this year, probably in no small part because I'd determined that I'd ride my own ride, aiming to do the ride in about three and half hours regardless of what everyone else was doing. I often blow up by Wass Bank trying keep up with people just plain better than me. It was good fun mixing it with small groups of riders on the way.
Hats off to the young riders doing this - I always liked my sport but the thought of me being able to do this at 14 is inconceivable.

Would also like to thank everyone involved in the organisation of this event.
A great day out. Longest ride for a couple of months so started to feel the effects around Malton. Set off with Rob's group but lost sight of everybody near Helmsley but not to worry at least it allowed me to pace myself. Got past by another group just after the climb out of Nunnington but made good time with the tailwind into Malton. Stopped for a brief break before attempting Birdsall brow and was glad I did as just after the descent into Leavening was caught by Darren N, Karl and Steen which lifted the spirits abit. By the way thanks for tow back to Stamford bridge guys. Certainly appreciated the food back at the scout hut before riding back home. Good to get the first challenging ride in of 2013 and hope to be on many more this year.
