Its surprising how many of these old airfields are still usable, 3 years ago when i was flying i tried to land at as many of these as possible in my Cyclone AX3 as it had an incredible short take off/landing capability. Even landed on the short concrete section as you ride up past Acaster Selby, when no one was looking (I hope). Also spent many happy hours at RAF Pocklington flying gliders. Its a shame how many of these war saving features are now fading into the countryside and no one is aware as to how essential this area was in the war effort !!!
