Operating on my long-held belief that you can please some of the people all of the time, or all of the people some of the time...
...the forecast for this Saturday (heads up, Darren!) looks to be a tad warmer following incoming warmer, moister air on Friday. Assuming this all goes to Metcheck's plan, let's do the westerly route, in groups of not more than ten, kicking off at 09:00, as per the previous lengthy discussions on this matter. RSVP not required but clearly bring a bottle (or two).
(Incidentally I'm a big fan of "no fuss" rides but unlike the chaingang the winter training rides do have to contend with the effects of ice, flooding, and sometimes even frozen flooding. Even in my short cycling career I've known enough people break their hips - and seen the effect - not to want to take that risk and so that guides the suggestions I make on here. Anyone's more than welcome to head off out wherever they like with as many mates as they like in whatever conditions they like and I won't be in any way offended. )

After issuing the (now) mandatory incontinence pads (see last week's thread….try putting one of those on at 19mph…it’s not easy) I set off in the first group. Small number of 8 worked very well. Nothing of any note to report except an immaculately observed pee stop Everyone rode really well together doing a couple of minutes at the front before swinging across. On my clock averaged just over 18mph but that included an hour or so’s ‘pedal tickling’ before and after the main ride. Good ride today.
Likewise full marks for the second group out today. Given that we've had thirty plus turning up when it's been subzero and freezing fog, it was odd to see "only" twenty out there when it was relatively balmy and the sky was threatening to turn blue.
Ten off in the "steadier" group and to be honest it was about the neatest group ride I've seen in yonks. Likewise an immaculately observed pee stop (albeit mainly observed by carloads of shoppers short-cutting through Bramham) and just nice tidy short turns on the front and an occasional tweaking of pace via a bit of verbal from Tim. The out-of-town bit at 18.9mph and just over 200W for me - spot on, and many thanks to all.
Many thanks for the steadier ride.and many thanks to those who refused to let me drop off the group and sheltered me until i was ready again.1 more completed training ride for me.so im happy
Missed out on this had to go on my own later in the day, it appears I woke up with a full blown cold, so I went back to sleep. I'm randomly allergic to something that antihistamine tablets won't solve.
