ha ha! - it's all relative Martin, you're not yet a V40, so we'll count you as a youngster for a few more years!
Perhaps if we all have to retire later, then we can all carry on being youngsters for longer?

How does the V rating work ? at 46 next year what group would i find myself in, i couldn't make Sunday due to family commitments but would be keen to join in future events

If you do any of the LVRRC races next year you will set off in the As and Bs. The As are 40-45 yr olds and Bs are 45-50 yr olds. Some of those fellas are pretty quick though as are the guys in the Ds and Es!

What Cam said in respect of LVRC road races. BC is pretty thoroughly age-blind (although occasionally start sheets will list riders as 3V/4V or whatever, there are never separate prizes or points for the old blokes except they run a "Masters" (over 40) race at the Regional Championships). CTT (under whose rules the hillclimb runs) usually award age-group prizes for V40, V50, V60 etc, so even if you're not the fastest you may be fastest old bloke.

As Cam notes, getting older isn't a good excuse for getting slower, though...
