Well done last Sunday by the way Andy!
Thanks John, appreciate it
By the way, sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I've just remembered that Dalby Forest is closed on Saturday until later on in the afternoon or maybe even the evening due to the Trackrod Rally taking place - so you won't be able to ride the trails on Saturday. You might be able to watch some noisy cars racing round the fire roads though!
A little late for the previous weekends round up, but 3 of us set of from Morecombe on Friday morning 21st Sept, saddle bags/panniers et al.
Neil, Mark & I. very good route off road on tarmac surface for the first few miles after leaving Eric on his own on the prom'
Hit the real roads near Caton and a nice saunter thru' the Forest of Bowland, before a quick late 11's stop to allow Neil to get something on board after hsi 5.00 o'clock start.
Then across the border into Yorkshire and the 2nd cafe at Clapham - Neil you must remember to send that cheque to pay up!
On to Settle and teh biggest climb of the route out of Settle over the pave at the bottom and then the long climb up & over towards Airton, shortly after which Julia met us & rode back to Threshfield for our overnight stop.
Julia who had made all the arrangements, but had to pull out at the last minute, certainly did us proud with the B&B.
The following morning it was white over with frost - but not a cloud in the sky and the scenery was fantastic - especially after the climb from Appletreewick onto Green how - you could almost see from coast to coast!!
We then took the Wilsill road from pateley to Brimham rocks, when we past a road train of pack Llamas - carrying baggage etc (yes we where still in Yorkshire). Next was Fountains & the first cafe of the day beckoned at Spa gardens; where we were met by Julia & Dawn a very pleasant suprise - we then decided it was the correct spot to partake of Kevin's top up on the sugars etc by eating the chocolate bars he had sent to Julia for us - thanks Kevin.
Then the usual route back into York for our 2nd nights stop over, before the ride out via Millington, Hutton Cranswick, Burton Agnes and the into Brid via Woldgate - where we hit the prom at 2.05. 172 miles logged.
Thanks for all the organisation Julia - hope that you Girls get to it next year.
