Good to see everyone last night. I might even recognise people from their faces rather than their bikes now.

Shame I had to dash out early. Did I miss any pearls of wisdom?

As a complete newcomer last year I found the training rides to be extremely helpful and wouldn't change anything about them.

A thread about training/nutrition on the site might be a good idea. Especially over winter.

Cheers

A good session at the pub - about a dozen people there, plus Maffers to contribute to discussions about the evening race series. Rather than attempt a long-winded write-up here I'll just post a few notes about decisions which were made, and will kick off a couple of new threads about specific topics.

So.. ..we decided (subject to Fraz being okay about Cycleworks' input into it) to run the Evening RR League pretty much exactly the same as this year - six events starting Thursday 16th May and running through to 25th July. I'll start a thread about next year's races so people can seize control of race organisation there! There's still some finances to sort out from this year's events and Cam said he'd look at how to handle this.

We talked about the training rides and agreed these would "go informal" for a few weeks and then kick off properly on 3rd November, possibly preceded by a ride specifically aimed at people new to these rides to go through road etiquette and basic do's and don'ts. Again, new thread elsewhere.

We talked a bit about the general approach to training and racing and agreed we weren't aiming to "do a Rock Racing" on it with race plans and exclusive members-only training rides. But there was also a feeling that the training rides should focus on helping members get the training they want, and not get taken over by other individuals' or groups' agendas.

We also talked about the upcoming circuit at Heslington East and the opportunities this presents (see separate thread) and the need to welcome young riders coming up from the Go Ride squad. We talked a bit about people's expectations re training support / coaching (which touches on Martin's comment above) - I'll kick off another thread.

I think that was about it - if I've missed anything important please add to this thread.

Oh, and we drank beer, of course.
