Roses Midnight Ride, Sun 22nd July

Post by Rob »

Yet another big adventure. Here's the outline plan.

Leave The Square at Saturday Midnight. Good lights needed as I'll be keeping us off the main roads for a while at least.
Should be around Skipton just before dawn. I've found a petrol station that claims to be open all night - but can't guarantee. Come prepared with some food.
Then its across the Forest of Bowland as the sun rises. Eventually breakfast in Lancaster (a bit more research needed here) - 90ish miles done.
Then back via Settle, Malham, Grassington, Pateley.....
Back in York mid afternoon.

Will be just shy of 200miles, with a fair bit of climbing.

Now, quite a few of you have said that this sounds a great adventure, but nobody has yet committed firmly. I need a few definites as this isn't a trip to ride solo, and I don't want to turn up in the Square at midnight only to go back to bed! So, if you plan to join me, could you post here (or PM me).

I've been looking forward to this one all year.

Hi Rob

I know you asked me at the the Thixendale ride if i would be up for this and i said yes. and as i write this i still plan on been there at midnight on the Saturday. Should be a good ride. We could just do with a couple more bodies than last years Ullswater epic, so come on folks.

Plan to be with you on this one.

Will not be on your trip this weekend as am at the Latitude mud festival

Four of us had a good trip into the Moors on Sunday Andy Student guy from last week is it Joe of Jack ? and Mark Dent made a wlcome come back. I know this bit is in the wrong place but I am sure we can all live with it this once.

Well, three definites for this ride. I reckon there's probably another half dozen of you seriously tempted. :D

So midnight Grand Depart in Exhibition Square. Come well provisioned as refuelling may turn out to be a little ad-hoc. Expect 190miles and some pretty testing (in both senses) climbs. Sunrise over the Forest of Bowland is what i'm really looking forward to.

If the weather forecast is bad, I'll cancel, but I shouldn't think a few showers would put us off. Will post on Saturday morning.

Have a good week.

Well, weather looks fine and we're good to go.
Four definites now, and I've booked us breakfast in Lancaster (you won't believe where, will tell you on the way). All welcome still to join though, the more the easier.....
See you in The Square at midnight......... 8)
