Quick something competitive!
Blast, having entered both the fun and veteran category races of the MTB nutcracker round 3 at Gateshead, 24 June, I was very much looking forward to it, especially as I'm getting a bit fitter and have lost a bit of weight. But they've had to cancel it owing to objections by the locals (bloody hell - they don't want us on road, they don't want us off road, where will they let us go). I'd rather got my mind round a few hours suffering and more importantly got a pass out for the weekend - so does anyone know something competitive I could enter that weekend - probably can't be road racing as I don't have a licence for anything this year (and I'm probably not fit enough) and it needs to within to or three hours drive. So come on Clifton, what can I get a ride in that weekend?

LVRC Barton RR
The LVRC are running the Barton upon Humber RR. It's a flat course and a low-key event. I entered on the day last year but I did call the organiser during the week before just to save a wasted trip. Good luck.

I did fancy something a bit MTBey, but I think the Mountain Marathon is a bit late for me to prepare for and I've spent more than enough time travelling to Birmingham and back for work lately. Barton Upon Humber RR certainly is tempting, but I suppose I may or may not get a ride - and I'm not fit enough, a lot of hassle to get shot out the back after only a few minutes of racing.
TTing? The english perversion? I haven't done any for 15years and I didn't like it much then.
Club run to Cleethorpes - I said competitive but not as competitive as a Clifton Club run
After last year I thought I wouldn't do the Ron Kitchin again, it seems expensive for what it is and it's always rained hard whenever I've done it and now Summer has set in with it's usual severity I expect it will be no different. Still options seem limited and I'd like to do something that weekend. It will be nice to see if I can still get up the Chimney on a 39x25, so I've entered it.
Thanks for the ideas
