Yorkshire bids to host 2016 Grand Depart

Post by AndyM »

I presume most people have already heard about this, but I thought I would post it anyway for those that haven't. Wouldn't it be fantastic with Yorkshire won the bid!

It woulld be fantastic if Yorkshire won the bid. The only problem I could see if they won would be because the tour entourage is so big they wouldnt use the roads you would most like to see them on. It still would be a spectacle though and worth watching

They'd either use A19 to Selby then onto bypass, A64 to Leeds then or airport, or A64 onto M1.

No, I think they'd just get the train - we should have the transpennine line electrified by then...

There were several quarter page ads promoting the bid in l'equipe during the tour - seems like it's being pushed pretty hard so who knows?

I reckon they should just use the Bishopwood circuit- if they really go for it, with 200 riders, the front of the peloton could actually catch the back and we'll then just have one long string of riders going round in circles. That should keep Rich Houghton's TM company busy

Any volunteers to shout out the numbers in the sprint? :D :D :D

I think it might be 2014.

ASO don't have a chosen start location yet, Yorkshire is ready & popular & President Hollonde says oui !

The best thing about the tour coming here is they'll have to sort all the potholes.
