I second that, well done to all the organisers for an excellent evening and I thought Ned Boulting was great :D

Yes, many thanks for a great night, hugely enjoyable. Special mentions should go to:
· Lisa - for organising everything, particularly for signing a cycling celeb like Ned Boulting, who struck the right balance between seriousness and humour – how do you top that next year!
· Kev - for doing an incredible job with the trophies, …again!
· President Paul C – a natural leader & speaker, providing the necessary credibility for the Club, particularly with outsiders present – great job!
· Phil H for doing the paparazzi duties, thanks on behalf of everyone!

Other aspects worth noting:
· I thought the MTB Oscars was a brilliant concept, particularly with the accompanying theme music and on-screen nominees – lays down a challenge for others!
· I was very surprised to discover that Bernard, aka Phil Liggett, spends his Summers moonlighting as a commentator for ITV4 at the TdF.
· Heather, aside from winning loads of trophies, had some hard acts to follow when she got up to present the Road awards, yet I thought she did a superb job! Her Yorkshire dry sense of humour was priceless, well done…a media career beckons!

I also have a couple of takeaway ideas:

· I think the Night needs to culminate in an overall Club Champion for the best achiever in terms of performance and results, a sort of Clifton Sports Personality of the Year Award. The committee could nominate the top ten performing athletes of the year in, say, November, (after everyone sends in their achievement forms) and the entire club membership could then go online and vote for their winner. It would extend across gender and cycling discipline and would certainly become a coveted award on an ongoing basis. I’m happy to help organise it if people think it’s a good idea. - Easy to implement, something to think about.

· I also wondered aloud in the café yesterday whether we should have a Juniors / Go Ride section in the discussion forum, ie. any upcoming events, activities, notable performances, literally any points of discussion, could be published by the organisers. I realise there’s a ‘Cycling for Under 16’s’ section on the website but this is just intro information. The only time we hear about our youngsters is in the magazine and at the Dinner. An active web presence would also encourage other Juniors to join in. - Again, easy to implement, something to think about.

:)

The club dinner is always a good do but I thought this year's, despite the sproats, was probably the best and I've been to loads. Well done & thanks to everyone involved in the organisation. I thought Ned Boulting was superb and he had clearly spent some time preparing for the evening. He was funny and interesting. I just felt a bit sorry for the DJ!

+1 - seems an excellent idea and enable a 'bridge' between younger riders and the rest of the club

Chatting to Ned Boulding on Saturday night (must have recognised the kit) and he obviously enjoyed himself as much as everyone appears to have done at the Annual Dinner so well done to all involved it sounds like a great night. Pity I couldn't make it.

+1 for the Go Ride section on the discussion board - Madeline a Go Rider really enjoyed being amongst all the cyclist and has some stories to tell!
