Clifton CC Hill Climb - Sunday 2nd Oct 11am Bishop Wilton

Post by ClaireG »

Whoops! Not had chance til now to post a reminder for the Club Hill Climb next Sunday, 2nd Oct.

Start: Bishop Wilton at 11am.

The climb is the minor road which goes up from the village X-roads to join the A166. Finish just prior to the junction.

Entries on the line as per SPOCO series
Max gradient 20%, distance 1.2 Km

There are several Club trophies up for grabs, including separate category for riding MTB, but more importantly there is the glory for the winners and respect for all those taking part.

Phil B has also managed to get hold of some helmets as prizes for the event from York Cycleworks (Thanks for the donation!).

Remember Junior is Under 18yrs and minimum age for CTT-organised events is 12yrs (with signed Parental Consent Forms)

Depart 09-30 from the Square for those riding out together or meet there (for safety & visibility, please do not park at the start or on the course - find a verge off the road of the hill climb - Ta)

See you there
Claire

Hill Climb usually a small (but select!) field, but worth acknowledging the Event Entry etiquette:
1. Max number of riders for CTT-organised Club Events is 40.
2. We’ll give Clifton members priority sign on. This priority will last until 10-40am.
3. Any rider who is a member of a CTT Club is welcome to ride and at 10-40am entry opens to all, up to a max of 40
4. As this is a Clifton Club Event, the prizes will be for Clifton members only

Can I ask for 2 volunteers to help at this event, please?

I currently have self (Start), Robert (Finish) & my Dad (number taker), but could do with a Pusher Off and a Marshall to go up with Robert to the top of the hill to warn any cars (rarely do any turn off here from the A166) of what's taking place.

If you let me know either here or by PM, I would appreciate it!

"Phil B has also managed to get hold of some helmets as prizes for the event from York Cycleworks "

Before Claire or I get sued for trades descriptions or incitement to participate in a hillclimb on false pretences I should clarify that the prizes generously donated by York Cycleworks comprise two posh hats and one pair of over-socks (those things you put over yer shoes if you're really serious about TT's, not that I'd know) all from quality clothing manufacturer Assos and for distribution to the fastest three.

C'mon folks, you know you're doing it for the glory really

In fact on a clothing theme I may as well also use the opportunity to say I'll be doing a car boot sale at the hillclimb of the remaining "old" club kit on behalf of Cycle Heaven. Remaining stock is going at cost. It may not be the new design Endura kit but it could be a nice cheap way to keep warm/dry for the next few winters. Stock and prices will be:-

Caps one size fits all £7
Minerva (waterproof) jackets S/L/XL £41
Training jackets (windproof front) S/L/XL £41
Bibtights S/M/XL £32

...plus some summer stuff...

Jerseys short sleeve 1/4 zip L/XL £30
Jersey long sleeve full zip XL £40
Bibshorts S/L £23
Skinsuits S/M/L £44

Please bring cash/cheques if you're interested as the Nissan Micra doesn't have a card machine. If you take size XL this could be a good way to come out of the day with a smile on your face

***EDIT*** I've discovered that the "cost" prices I was given didn't include VAT, so I've amended the prices above. Stock numbers for some items also vary from what I was told, so I've amended available sizes where required. Seeya on Sunday..

Hi

As a non-member can I still take part in the climb?

Also, when does the timing start? At the start of Worsendale rd?

Many thanks

As long as you are a member of a CTT-affiliated Cycling Club then you are welcome to take part (see my 1st post above).

If you are not, then you can join Clifton CC via the Membership link on the Homepage. Or download a form, fill it in and bring it along on the day.....

The timing starts opposite a field-gate on the RHS about 150yds up the road ascending Worsendale from the crossroads.

Hi

Thanks for reply. I'll aim to get there for 10/10:30 with my form and £15.

I presume that'll be ok. There's not masses of red tape to wade through is there?

Cheers

Martin.

No red tape - don't worry! :D

Looking forward to seeing you then.

Entry for the event - £3 seniors, £1 under 18’s - a bargain for 6 to 10 minutes of PAIN

That face reminds, could we have “Didi the Devil” stationed at the last 20 metres of the climb?

He wears CCC colours after all:
