Tan Hill Challenge - 28th August

Post by Broom Wagon »

Please note the date of the Tan Hill challenge is 28th August, not the date shown on the challenge series page. Start will be from Shipton By Benningboro hall and the usual route as per the challenge page.

More details nearer the time.

Will there be tea and cakes at the end? I've done 2 x 30 mile rides so far this year so I'll be a bit knackered.

What a bummer :( I won't be able to do this ride now as I will be working the whole bank holiday weekend. As part of a coach and bus operator we provide some of the transport in the form of a shuttle service for the Leeds Festival at Bramham Park. :x

Broomwagon - think you asked me ages ago to amend the date on the challenge series page - I forgot! :?

Anyway, bit late but it's done now!

Arthur? Is that the Arthur, where've you been - doing all that dad stuff I suppose. Yes there will be tea and cakes, you'll need 'em after you've done Tan Hill if that's all the cycling you've been doing.

Sorry Jon, I believe the previous weekend clashes with the city centre cycling race.

Will - EOL is the only way you can enter this - it's just going to be a challenge ride this year, though hopefully back to Audax status next year.

Yes indeed - York Cycling City Races in the diary for 21st Aug. All subject to funding (from CoYC) but that's what we're aiming at.

Yup, life getting in the way. I'll be there. If I'm not fit enough for the whole thing I'll trundle as far as Masham sitting on the back :)

I'm possibly still intending on doing this if it won't impact TT performance 4-5 weeks in the future, I think I'll be abit frustrated and cursing myself on the hills because I'm probably gonna be much slower.

Yes, sorry a new job has meant not touching my bike for three weeks and not being able to think about organising this....I've a nasty feeling that's my cycling done for good  unless things settle down but I've no reason to expect they will.

But the ride is ON, though not under Audax regs, it's just a challenge ride this year. The start is Shipton By Benningborough community hall (the newish building on the left at the end of the village on the way out on the A19) as per previous years and the same route as shown on the challenge website.

Start will be in groups between 8am and 9am.
