Still have it pencilled it in my diary and happy to come along if others are able to make it. But.... equally happy to rearrange if tomorrow does not suit others since I am pretty busy this week.....

I'm not as far as I was hoping to be with my tasks! Hopefully I'll get them more or less done in a couple of weeks. Happy to meet up tomorrow or in a couple of weeks time.

Maybe worth postponing a bit then? Might have more info from BC about the proposed trial of the new marshalling arrangements by then too...

Just bumping this thread back into life.

I had a conversation at last night's Tockwith event with Pete Sutton. Two main points came out of it:-

-It looks as though we shouldn't hold our breath re the proposed new marshalling arrangements which BC are trying to get in place via changes to the law. The piloting is now to be restricted to a very limited number of events down south as both North and South Yorkshire Highways declined to be involved. As a result, the progress of the changes could be slow, and we may need to assume the current situation will persist into next season at least.

-Clubs in East Riding are concerned that other clubs (eg us) are shifting events over there as there's a risk that this may cause a reaction in police/highways quarters. This is fair enough really.

Given this, is it worth getting back together again to talk about possible ways forward, and is it worth prior to that maybe having a further chat with Rich Houghton about costs for running events on a range of local circuits?

Clifton came out of the two Tockwith events with a fair profit. It occurred to me that we may choose to use this to cross-subsidise road events if that helps make them stack up. Would be interesting to do some initial sums.

I spoke to Rich Houghton a couple of months ago and got some details of the costs involved. Once we have some routes we think are suitable it would be worth getting back in touch with him.

I can update you on all the details when we next meet up.

Sounds worth a meeting when we're past the holiday season. Suggest a date in September nearer the time.

Well, season's end is upon us so thoughts should be gradually turning to next year - how about that meeting to discuss the ideas about the new local league? We could also use the session for a bit of feedback on how people did this year (especially those racing for the first time), some discussion of what people want from training rides (and possibly the mooted links with YSJ re coaching / theory sessions / etc) and a chance for newcomers to the club to get involved.

Those of you who were following up actions for the race league idea - are we far enough forward?

If so, how about Monday 19th or Monday 26th? If there's enough interest I'll see if the upstairs room is available at Brigantes?

I'll come too and give you what info I have on YSJ. Still not much further forward I'm afraid but I should have some dates and details of testing slots. In fact if anyone wants to book some testing now whilst their lungs and legs are still superhuman let me know and I'll sort it out.

It'll also be useful to get some feedback and what you guys actually want from YSJ too. Up until now I've just used my thoughts on what I think we need but they're so hard to deal with it'll be useful to know if I'm wasting my time sooner rather than later.

Looks like Monday 26th then - let's say 8:00pm at Brigantes, and I'll see if the upstairs room is available. Put it in your diaries, folks!
